DD 2.5 won't use night nappy

We have just started toilet training DD (2.5) and things are going okay during the day, just a few accidents when she gets tired or distracted.

I put her in a pull up nappy pant for overnight but the last couple of nights she has refused to wee in it - instead taking multiple trips to the toilet at bedtime, or at night.

What is the best approach? I allowed the multiple trips at bedtime the first night because I thought she was due a poo tbh and wanted her to try, and the 1am toilet trip I felt I didn't want to discourage her asking for the loo. Should I have just said no and tried to sooth her sleep instead? I think this is what I need to do but it just feels so counter productive to what we are doing in the day!

I have told her clearly that she can wee in the night pant as the toilet is for awake times but I think she hates the feel of it now!

I know it is likely to be some time before she is naturally dry overnight and don't fancy 1am toilet trips for the next year!

My DD toilet trained at 2.5 and she went dry overnight at the same time. She wasn’t really waking up for the loo though - making sure she went right before bed was enough. I switched to pants in the night too. I don’t think it’s necessarily true that being dry in the night comes later.

My DS was also dry at night around a similar age, he had a few accidents but not many. He just said one day he didn’t want to wear a nappy to bed. Now he’s 5, he occasionally has a daytime accident but has been dry at night for ages!

Can you put a potty next to her bed and explain that at night she can wee in that and get back in bed?

Mine was the same - she would wear a nappy at night but woke to use the potty and after a couple of weeks her night nappy was always dry. She refused it after a few weeks and we stopped using it - she has never wet the bed and she’s 4 now.

If she is waking to use the potty I think you should follow her lead. Don’t tell her to wee in the nappy. Most kids aren’t night dry for ages but some are, she seems to be motivated and you may find that she stops needing to wee at night soon.

Mine were dry at night before they were dry in the day, no distractions and they were allowed out of bed for it (not normally allowed to get up at night). Please don’t make her we e in a nappy when she is telling you she doesn’t want to.

I know you might want to go straight to the toilet but have you considered a night potty right next to her bed that she can use independently, multiple trips different have to mean waking you.

Thanks all, a potty next to the bed seems like a good idea. It did seem wrong to tell her not to use the toilet when we've been pushing it so much during the day. I was just expecting night dryness to happen much later!
