Regression

We potty trained our little boy at the beginning of December when he was 2 years 9 months and he took to it brilliantly. As he was that bit older he was very aware and ready for it. Wees and poos he would do in the potty and then we moved on to the loo which was fine. Obviously at first we had to get him to use the loo regularly to try and then eventually he got so he was saying when he needed to go. We have been in pants since we started which is great with nappies only at night. For the past month he has completely regressed and is starting his wees and poos in his pants and then I realise so send him to the loo where he finishes them. As he is incredibly stubborn it's then a mission trying to get him to the loo but tend to. Nothing has changed in home life or nursery. We have started to get him to go and try regularly again which is a battle in itself. He knows when he needs to go as you can see he goes off and tries to hide and looks at you. I have tried reward charts / treats / special things / books / fun pants he has chosen but nothing seems to work with him. Not just for potty training but in general. He is so stubborn so unless he wants to do something it's a challenge. I am obviously not going back to nappies as I don't see any benefit to that. Any ideas greatly appreciated. When will it get better?

Anyone?

Anyone got any advice on this as we are still struggling?

I'm having the same issue right now, I know you posted this a while ago now, but I'm hoping this is something your little one overcame? If so, any advise would be great!

@Nxrss only recently have things got better for us but we are definitely seeing huge improvements. A slow process though! We did a disimpaction that the doctor recommended and now he takes one sachet a day of laxatives to keep things soft. Therefore we know he isn't in any pain etc. wee accidents are rare now (except when he withholds poo for long periods but again this is rare). He seems to be taking himself off with less tantrums. He is still in a nappy at night because it is still very heavy in the mornings but I'm not fussed about that at all. He turns 5 next week. I hope things get better for you soon. We found being as relaxed as possible (tricky I know) helped and we did bribe (sweets etc) - probably not what you are meant to do but we did anything that would help him relax and feel happy about going. Good luck!
