Is it a good idea to potty train before holiday?

I'm a teacher so had planned on waiting to potty train our 2.5y/o until Easter when I'm off work for an extended period of time to try and crack it at home without leaving the house.

However, we've now got our familymoon booked for the second week of the holidays, so I'm Wondering is it going to be worth trying to crack it week one only to then disrupt our normal routine week 2 by going on a plane etc? Or am I better waiting until May half term, by which time she will be 2.10months?

I should add she will hide to poo/tell us she's pooed but won't tell us before weeing and isn't really interested in the potty that we keep around.

I’d probably wait in your situation as you’d be changing the routine so close to her learning this new skill plus you might have long journeys / flights etc.

You don’t necessarily need to wait til the half term though you can make good progress in the 2 days then the people who look after her when you are working can take over.

enjoy the holiday!

You might as well wait, because holidays and any change of routine can cause toileting accidents and if you think you've got a dry DC at that point it quite possibly ruin your holiday. Plus, unless she's one of those DC who 'get it' really quickly, you're looking at six months of accidents anyway and who wants to be having to wash umpteen pairs of pants when they're on holiday and maybe don't have easy access to a washing machine?

No. I wouldn’t.

I would wait, we went away on a family holiday and my sister was trying to train my niece before they went and by Day 2 she was back in nappies, I also think it’s not worth ruining the holiday with loads of accidents. Our DD is potty trained but when we go on holiday we put pull ups on her in the evening as the change of routine and the long days would tire her out and she wouldn’t wake up to go for a wee.

I would wait, a week isn't enough time to definitely crack it

I would encourage her to be more open when she's pooed and start getting her use to the toilet/potty, sitting in it before after bath or in morning but no point if she's not ready
