Hi my son is 2 and a half and has been using the toilet for poos and wees since he turned 2. We have always just kept him in a night nappy but he's been dry for about 3 weeks now asking to go to the toilet if he needs a wee in the night . Instead of going cold turkey and taking his nappy away I was going to get him some 'night pqnts' but the Huggies don't seem to start until age 3 so wondering what other people hav done thanks

Can you not just use pull up nappies

Twizbe · 11/01/2023 09:28

I kept the pull ups at night until mine were dry every morning with no nighttime toilet trips for at least a month.

Nighttime dryness is hormone driven so it happens when it happens.

Sounds like he's pretty much there so I'd just use pull ups until your confident to move to pants.

Just use pull up nappies.

Pull up nappies were useful. I also used washable ones I bought online £30-40 for a small bundle and bought a couple more of same brand from B+M when they were at sale price (age 2-3).

Thanks for the info . When you say pull ups do you mean the active fit pants? As this is what we have used from about 1 year old . Was sort of wanting something as a next step up from nothing at all . But looking at the Huggies pull up pyjama pants etc they all seem like they'd be too big for him

My son is 2.5 and the Huggies pull ups fit him fine. They have weight guides on the front. Boots has a good range.

The huggies night time pants are basically the same as pull up nappies, just in bigger sizes and with designs to appeal to older kids (a bit more expensive too). Once he's got his pj's on, he won't know the difference. I would stick with the active fit pull ups if they are working for you.

If he's been dry at night for three weeks, I would just go for it, make sure you have a waterproof cover on the mattress and that he can get to a loo or potty if he needs to.

If he’s been dry overnight for 3 weeks then you don’t need anything? Pull ups are just different coloured nappy pants with characters on. It’s all in the branding and you pay more for it. They’re great for older kids that are still wetting and don’t want to feel babyish but totally unnecessary for a younger one that isn’t bothered and more importantly is dry at night! Just make sure you have a waterproof mattress protector just in case.

Huggies Pull Ups Explorers start at 9 months though. Or 2 for the Trainers nighttime ones. Pyjama pants are the same product for even older kids. They’re all the same thing really, the pictures on them just change to be age appropriate.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
