Signs of readiness?

My LO is turning 2 next week. Had no intentions of potty training until summer as I thought easier with less layers on and stuff, but wondering if he's starting to show signs of being ready?

He's started to say 'toilet' and try to pull his trousers/nappy down so I'm assuming he's becoming aware of when he needs to 'go'. Is this a sign of readiness, or just a new phase?

Wondering whether to get a potty and just pop it out, so if he wants to try it he can, but no pressure? Or is just turning 2 just wayyy to early?

The pulling the nappy off and stripping down Is a phase.
As for the potty, there's no harm in trying it, just leave it out as a toy so he gets used to it and potty train his toys as a game.

Dd took her nappy off at nursery one day at about 2.5 - nursery staff felt that this was a huge indiciation of readiness. I was sceptical so they did the first few days there, and she was dry within 2 weeks with less than 10 accidents so i would say give it a go, there's no harm in trying if you are willing to go back to nappies if it is a bit early.

I think it differs child to child but the ones I would say are important:
-Tell you when they want changing
-Pulling at nappy/trousers
-Not wanting to be in nappies
