Petit bateau boxers - sizing?

I’m hoping to start potty training Ds in the late spring when he turns 2.

I have seen petit bateau locally have a great sale on on pants so was going to get some as prep. They do size 2 or size 3.

Ds is roughly 75 % for height, 50% weight. Would the 2 year be correct size, or should I get age 3? I know from leggings and vests he’s had they come up small in general, but I don’t want the pants to fall down on him.

I agree, get plenty of cheap pants whilst he's training and save the nicer ones for when he's older. There may be occasions when accidents mean it's easier to throw the pants away.

Petit bateau clothing sizes are always ´up to’ that age. So 2 =age 18months to 2, size 3 = age 2-3.
That said, I tried some age 3 on my 21month old (similar percentiles to your boy) (failed potty training attempt 1) and they were too big and fell down at that age. Hopefully they will fit when we have another go this spring at age 2.5

If you can get them with a serious discount then petit bateau underwear and babygrows are brilliant. You can wash them again and again and again and they don’t change shape or start breaking down. Full price they are very expensive though. In France lots of parents use the baby vests because of this. 2nd hand is good but not for age 2-3 pants!
But yes, if you think you’ll be tempted to just throw out poo covered pants then cheap and disposable could be a better choice. Repeatedly washing the better quality ones is probably a more sustainable choice environmentally.

Yes, go to Asda and get cheap ones for potty training (and further down the line tbh...)

Caspianberg · 20/01/2022 07:35

Yes they are down to €14 for a pack of 5. I’m happy with that. Supermarkets don’t sell clothing here unfortunately.

Why can’t they be washed if pooped in? Ds is currently in washable nappies and well he poops in that daily. Just wash and reuse.

@Diggersaursarethebest - ah that makes sense. I think his size 18 months leggings fitted best 12-18 months. Il definitely get the size 3 then. If too big, I guess it’s not terrible as he will fit eventually and i will just have to buy smaller as well.

Of course they can be washed when they have poo in them, but once or twice, you might have an incident where there is so much mess and you are out and about, that throwing them is the easiest option.

@NannyR - thanks. We have washable wet bags we already use to bring dirty nappies home in so I home to do similar if needed.

I’m hoping we shouldn’t have main accidents for more than a few days, and if so i will just stop and wait a while longer
