2 years old scared of potty

Hello.
I was wondering if someone had experienced a similar situation. My daughter is almost 2 1/2 and seems ready for potty training as she can tell very well when she needs nappy change. Also her nappies are usually dry in the morning so she might even be ready for night training.
We started slow and she was always happy to go and sit on the potty to play with her toys. Problem is: when she actually needs to wee, she does not want to go. This morning, I insisted a bit and offered to read a story while she sat on it... After a minute she got up screaming and cried until I put a nappy that she immediately wetted. She also screamed twice when she peed in the shower.
I am regularly using the toilet in front of her and do not remember ever getting upset at any accident, she seems to be scared of the feeling...
Thank you for reading. Any idea to help her get used to it?

I bought my DS a combined seat with a step for the toilet which he preferred.

DS didn't want to use the potty for a good while, like your DD the idea of it seemed ok, but he somehow couldn't make the leap between knowing what it was for and actually using it!

Maybe try just leaving it around the place for her to play with, and we also used to sit the teddies on it for them to have a wee...and then reward the teddies with chocolate buttons when they managed it!

My DD was a bit like this. I just stopped trying for a couple of months and put the potty away. I brought it out again yesterday and she just sat on it and did a wee, no drama. So I guess she just wasn't quite ready before! Today she's done 4 pees in the potty and one on floor. A couple of months ago, that would have seemed like a miracle!

Also I think having the potty around all the time means that they lose sight of what it's really for. I've read a couple of books on it and they've each said not to have the potty out for months if possible as it then just becomes part of the scenery/a chair!
