Potty regression

Hi,
My 3 year old little boy has been trained for only about a month.
He decided one day he wanted to go on the toilet and that was it. He’s been doing really really well, barely any accidents. He would even wake us in the night to go on the potty for a wee, even though we kept his nappy on for night time.

But…. He started preschool 10 days ago and for the past 7 days he’s been having so many accidents, even when the potty is right next to him, he’ll wet himself rather than sit on. It’s been 7 accidents today alone.

It’s driving me mad, I really don’t know what to do with him, I’ve tried rewards, sticker charts, ignoring, making him clean himself up. He’s just not bothered.
Should I put him back in nappies? I really didn’t want to as he was doing so well, especially in the night. I’m just at a loss. I’m thinking it’s to do with starting preschool, he was at a childminders who he loved, but she became ill and we had to move him ☹️
Any advice appreciated!
Thanks!

Pull ups and relax. He'll get there

Id put him back in nappies for a couple of weeks and then start again. It will give you both time to relax Thanks

Sounds just like my son! Perfectly normal if he's just started preschool. New environment, new routines, and if still learning to figure out when he needs the toilet, easy to be distracted.

My son seemed to start rebelling, and would happily stand and wee everywhere so we put him back in nappies. I even posted a thread on here about it as I was at an all-time low over it all. He has finally decided he's a big boy and wants to wear pants again. So far so good 🤞

I would personally put him back in nappies or pull ups and wait a bit longer to try again. You might even find after he's been at preschool a bit longer he will want to try again because of watching all the bigger boys and girls. It certainly worked that way with my son.

Remember you're doing a great job and don't stress. He won't be wearing nappies at 18 after all! x
