Potty Problems

Hi everyone,

I'm after some advice (obviously) I have never potty trained anyone or anything in my life before so these questions may be stupid but I need help 🙈

We are on day 3 of potty training DD (2.2 months) she's doing pretty well. Today is my last day at home with her before she goes to CM tomorrow.

We are obviously still putting a nappy on her at night. She usually has a nap in the day - is it best to still put a nappy on her then? I just wonder if this will confuse her?!

What about going in the car.. put a nappy down under her & hope for the best?

We have bought her a mini toilet that looks just like an adult one.. shall we take this to the CM for her? I'm worried she won't go on anything else. We do have a potty too, she knows what it is but prefers using the toilet.

She's been running round pretty much naked at home the last couple days as we tried her in pants but she wasn't getting them down in time at the toilet, & at one point wasn't willing to part with them to ankle length as she was so in love with them. I guess tomorrow I'll just have to pack several pairs for her & hope for the best?!

Bit worried about her not being here tomorrow actually as I know there'll be plenty more distractions tomorrow & she's likely to have lots of accidents.

Any advice would be amazing!

Your childminder will have done this loads of times I would imagine! You'll be so surprised how well they adapt to different environments.

Just pack lots of spare bottoms and a couple of pairs of pull ups (especially if she still naps there) and see what happens!

My childminder is great and my son does way better for her than me!!!

Re the nappies at nap and bedtime. We did this, as DS was dry in the day but not sleeping. He very quickly was dry at nap, so we just ditched that nappy. Then about 6 months later he had been dry every night for about three weeks, so we ditched the night time nappy.

One thing we did do, was make sure he put it on last thing before bed (after a last wee) and we whipped it off first thing in the morning, so he never got another chance to do an "awake" wee in his nappy, which I think helped stop any confusion.
