Refusing potty training!!!

My 3 yr old just flat out refuses to be potty trained. We started training last week and he was fine pulling pants and trousers down and sitting on potty but then he had an accident and it all went to pot. He got really emotional and wanted his nappy so I gave in. Since then he'll sit on the potty all day if I let him but he won't do anything. As soon as he come off he'll do a wee in his training pants. He just seems so emotional about the whole topic so at the moment, I'm giving it a rest for a few days. Would love some tips and advice please!!!

Oh crap method- best way to train but number 1 is consistency. Once you say goodbye to nappies and training pants etc in the day they don’t come back.
In addition friends that have struggled training their little boys found it easier to skip the potty and go straight to using the toilet- get a step and a toilet training seat thing!

Agree with Oh crap. Sometimes pants can replace the nappy so it's best to start naked and then go commando for a month

My DDs both hated the potty. And we never used training pants.
I put a child seat on the loo. They were thrilled to use the “big girls’ toilet”, felt very grown up, and loved being allowed to flush the cistern, shouting “Bye bye poo!” as they did so!
Maybe wait a week or two to take the pressure off, OP, then tell him you think he’s ready for the “big boys’ loo”, and make him feel important!
