Reusable/Eco Nappies

Hi all! I am due in January and am hoping to use reusable nappies. I thought eco/biodegradable nappies to start and then move onto a reusable brand - perhaps with an eco at night. Could people share their thoughts and recommendations - there are so many out there and I don’t want to invest in the wrong thing!!

We use little lamb cloth nappies and absolutely love them. Used them since March around the clock and never had a leak. We use the bamboo nappies with a separate wrap (the waterproof but that goes over the top) and the disposable liners (which are for in case of poo). We use a bamboo booster for night. If what I'm saying sounds like a different language to u then visit the little lambs website! You can also order sample kits so it's not a case of blowing over £100 without knowing if you'll be happy.

Only thing I would say is that our son is 2 and the reason bamboo works so well for us is that they are more absorbent but take ages to dry. For our next baby I think we'd have cotton as newborns need loads of changes and cotton dries quicker.

We also use cheeky wipes and the earth conscious baby balm as a bum cream. Both are brilliant.

We also have a tots bots nappy bucket.

Washing- we use persil non-bio and I wash every other day but I imagine with a younger child it would be daily. It must be doable though - my friend had 2 under 2 and both were in cloth nappies at the same time and she was honestly fine! Routine is key. I just chuck a load on every other morning first thing and it's just second nature now, doesn't really feel like extra work.

The nappy lady used to do a quiz that would then give you recommendations.

What I would say is the right outer cover makes all the difference

Fleece liners are wonderful

Have a look and see if there's a cloth nappy library near you. I'm not sure what they are doing due to covid but they can give you lots of advice re different makes and wraps/inserts etc.

I use the reusable cloth wipes (I have the brand cheeky wipes) I love them! Very easy to use and my daughter has never had a nappy rash.

Thank you for all of this! Feel very inspired. May wait a month or so using disposables and then take the plunge!
