How early has anyone started training?

I ask as much out of interest as anything, although it is prompted by the fact that DS has established he can take his own nappy off!
He is only 8 months so it’s not so much that I’m considering it now, as much as considering whether/when is appropriate to start to introducing the idea and I’m interested how early some people introduced training and if you had any particular approach outside of just simply having a potty to hand that you sat them on at times.

Just over 2 after DD had done several wees and a poo in the potty without any prompting. We did the oh crap method.

I'd wait until they realise they've done a wee and then have a potty around or introduce using the toilet before bed. It is pointless trying to.introduce it before they are ready, it could back fire and you will both become very frustrated. My ds was about 2 1/2, my dd 18 months but she is the most determined little girl I have met and anything her big brother could do, she could do.

DS1 was fairly late with training, but honestly I don’t remember anything from potty training him (it was 10 years ago!) and do wonder if I should’ve introduced the idea earlier and then just gone with it gradually instead of trying to focus intensely on it

Many years ago when my DC was a baby parents seemed to think it was a good idea to put children on the potty as soon as they could sit up by themselves. (Usually around six months or so). Some poor little ones were made to sit there until they had "done something".
Nowadays 'the experts' say that çhildren have no çoñtrol over their bladder or bowels until they are at least two.
Have potty trained lots of children over the years , some will pick it up very quickly and some not so much.
Pàtience and persevereñçe àre required, if child is not getting it though stop and try again in a few weeks or couple of months. Less pressure for all of you .

When dd was 2 I bought a potty and just had it around so she got used to it. Did occasional wees/poos on it but she was still in nappies.

She was definitely ready at 2.5 - holding wee for a good few hours, telling me she needed a wee, hiding to poo. When they’re ready it is so easy. Dd was dry within 2 days and hasn’t had an accident since, she’s nearly 3 now.
