What was your DC when they potty trained?

DD is 2years 2months and I'm not sure she is ready she refuses to even sit down on the potty. But a lot of my friends DC who are a similar age or younger have started training. Starting to feel pressured to potty train just wondered what age your DC potty trained.TIA

Dd was 2 yrs 11 months. It was easy. I tried about 6 weeks before and it was a disaster. Don't force it. My friend tried for 2 weeks to train her 3 y/o boy before she gave up. It was really crappy two weeks for them both!

I tried without DC1 a few weeks after her second birthday and she wasn’t remotely interested. Lots of accidents etc.
So I stopped - left the potty in plain view though. Then she started preschool at 2 and a half and was in nappies for a few weeks there, but then started following the older kids to the toilet and told me “no nappy” when I tried to put one on her one morning! No we accidents from then on, but poo took a little longer for her to get comfortable with on the potty. Probably all in all it took about two weeks for her to be “potty trained” for wees and poos. She 4yo now and in the last fortnight has decided no more nappies at night, and has only had one accident in her bed the second night.

DC2 is 2yr 8m, and goes through phases of acting like the potty is the best thing in the world and he will do wees, poos - everything on it. Then he suddenly decides he’s had enough of that and just starts peeing everywhere, making no attempt to get to the potty at all then asks for a nappy
I’m just following his lead. It’s obvious that he knows what the potty is for and how to use it, but doesn’t seem quite ready to forgo the nappies just yet.

Do they train faster in cloth as I'm led to believe they do? It's part reason why I'm going to switch from disps to cloth for the first time on my 3.5yo tomorrow - just got to figure out how to put them on next lol.

My son was just over three in the June and VERY reluctant. We were under a time pressure too as his pre school asked for them to be toilet trained after the summer break, so we knew we had to crack it by September.

However it really didn't take long once he understood and felt the benefit of not regularly crapping in his nappy!

Both of mine were 4-I was starting to get a bit panicky about them ever getting the hang of it.

Almost 3 with both of them. I really didn't push it before then TBH. I had no reason to. IMO if you push it before they're ready you make it harder and more stressful than it needs to be.

With DS1, he still had nappies in the night until 4. With DS2, he was dry through the night pretty much the same time as day time. Every kid is different.

Dd is 2.5 and we’ve just about cracked it. 3rd day no accidents. Still not dry at night though.

My DD refused to wear a nappy at home from the about 2 yrs 4 months. Shes now completely potty trained in the daytime at 2 yrs 8 months. She still has to wear a nappy at night though.

Don't put too much pressure on it. One of my friends did it out of feeling like her Dd should be trained but 8 months on her DD is still having regular accidents in her pants and shes just gone 3.

Potty training can be quite daunting for them, especially if you're quick to tell them off about it. Its much more likely to be a nicer experience for everyone if you go at her pace.

Ds was 3.5 before he was reliably trained during the day & another couple of months before he was dry at night. I didn't push him to start, I was led by him & we got It cracked during the summer as we had a touring caravan & spent a month in it, I had a potty in the awning & it was quick to whip him to the toilet in the caravan.

Two and a half, took a few days for day and dry overnight after two weeks. False start with daughter at two, waited a few months and then again about two weeks to be dry day and night.

DD was 2.
DS was 4.5 but he has autism and developmental delay.

DS1 was 3 for wet, 4 for poo. DS2 is 3 and still isn’t ready for wet. I tried recently and his nursery said he wasn’t ready. So will try again before September.

Mine were between 2 years 2 months, and 2 years 6 months. This was 20 odd years ago when it was usual to train earlier. We arranged to stay at home for a week & concentrate on nothing else.

Reliable by 18mo, but I put a waterproof cover over her training pants when we went out the house until she turned 2, just in case. So I would say, by her second birthday.

Dry at night very very early--three months. Yes, really. I was freaked out but it is a hormonal thing and happens with some babies apparently.

Daughter was bit more than 2 years.
Son was 19/20 months.
