We toilet trained our daughter who has just turned 3 a couple of months ago. She cracked it in a week and was reliable for a good 6 weeks. Recently, she has started having "accidents". I put the word in speech marks because I actually am 90% sure she is doing it on purpose for attention. She will shout me as soon as she has done a wee or poo, and often says "mummy, look at my trousers" and then looks at me as if waiting for some kind of reaction. This happens at least once a day, is ALWAYS at home, and often happens when she is not receiving my full attention, for example if I am cooking dinner or doing some laundry or chatting to someone.
Now, my daughter is not starved of attention. She is an only child as yet and I am a stay at home mum. She is cuddled, talked to, read to, played with, taken on nice outings, play dates with friends etc. She is really doted on by all of us. DH works from home a lot of the time so she spends a lot of time with him during the week too. She is happy to play on her own but only on her terms. If she wants me and I tell her "I'm busy doing laundry, I'll play with you in 5 mins" that's when these accidents happen. I just don't know what to do. Obviously I have to cook and do chores, so how do I get her through this? I don't tell her off when it happens or make a big fuss, I just remind her that we do all our wees and poos on the toilet now and get her cleaned up.
Is there anything I can do or is this just a phase that I need to wait out?
