How? Ds is 3yo, we potty trained him before he was 2 took a few months as was pregnant at time ect.
Since Xmas I gave been waking him during night to use toilet which he does then he goes back to sleep, however in the morning, his nappy is still pretty drenched.
He sleeps roughly 9 hours, and last drink is about an hour and a half before I put him to bed.
Any suggestions please?

He's not ready by the sound of it. They need to produce a hormone that limits urine at night. Sometimes that doesn't happen until age 7/8. I waited until dry morning nappies

NoKnit · 30/01/2019 20:13

Yes definitely not ready so just keep the nappy on. At 3 it comes from you not him so leave things as they are. Still waiting for eldest (now 5 1/2) to have a dry nappy in morning. There is no need to worry about it at 3

It's hormonal. As soon as he wakes in the morning, nappy off and loo. If it's dry, repeatedly, then he has the hormone. If it's wet, he doesn't. It's a waiting game.

Another agreement he isn’t ready .

Far too young to be concerned

He's not ready.

Wait until he has a run of dry nappies before you even try.

Are you sure he's wetting during the night rather than doing a big wee in his nappy when he first wakes up? It can be tempting for them to lie in bed and have a 'warm wee' knowing they can because they're wearing a nappy rather than getting up for the bathroom when they first wake. If he regularly wakes at e.g 7am, try waking him at 6:30 a few times to see if he's wet. If he is still wet, then it's simply a case of him not being ready to be nappy-free overnight until he's waking up dry more often than not. If he's dry when woken a little earlier then I'd try without the nappy and see if you can get him to get up for a wee when he wakes.

I would put him on the potty just before bed a W then wait until the time that his nappies are dry in the morning.

Starlight456 · 30/01/2019 23:19

I am also not sure why you are waking him in the night if he is wearing a nappy.

My ds was dry at night from the day he was out of nappies during the day at 2 yrs and 3 months he is now 7 and has never wet the bed. It's not anything I did it just happened like that. My dd was still in nappies at night till she was 5. Different courses....

There isn't anything you can do - like PP said its hormonal.

We had to wait until DD was over 5. Eventually when they wake, they won't want to pee in the nappy and will go to the toilet.

It is annoying and can get sore for them but once the hormone had kicked in we have had dry nights since!
