I've not started to look in to how you potty train yet, but DS 20 months has started to run off and wee on the floor most nights when we run his bath and his nappies off.

Is this a sign he may be ready to try on a potty? Is it worth putting a potty down to see if he'll wee in it? Or will that be too early and then ruin later potty training plans?

He’s still quite young to be potty training really Smile

Too young. My dgd is 2.5 yo, and just getting the hang of it. And girls tend to be quicker than boys.

There's no harm in having a potty in the bathroom and encouraging him to sit on it (if he's happy to) whilst you're filling the bath, but he's very young for actual potty training.

Thanks.. I'm definitely not looking to potty train.

I just wondered if I would ruin potty training when he is ready if I put a potty down at bath times now?

Honestly there's no hard rules about potty training. Give it a whirl and see what happens. If you're lucky, your carpets survive.

Read Oh Crap - 20 to 30 months is recommended by the author. I used it with DD at 22mo, hoping to do DS 20mo when I can get a bit of time at home.

We started potty training our little one a few months before he was two because he was consistently telling us he needed a poo and then that he had been for one. Now at just turned 2 he only has very occasional accidents (and yes takes himself to the potty and takes his pants down needs help sometimes with trousers but will ask for this). I say give it a go you won’t loose anything if they don’t get it yet!

Undress him in the bathroom and keep the door closed. Keep a potty in there and let him wee in it if he likes but don't make too much of it. It is just a game to him atm.

He is not too young at all

Mine does this and I've taken it as a sign that he's not at all ready. I keep the nappy on at all times!
