In-laws not helping with potty-training

My in-laws look after our DS (nearly 3) 2 days a week, rest of the week he's at nursery. DS has been potty-training for around 2.5 weeks and doing really well: using toilet with trainer seat, so long as prompted every 2hrs or so will go all day with no accidents, no interest in wearing a nappy and we've even managed a whole day out DRY! Poo's - still bit of an issue, he will go on the toilet when really desparate but otherwise goes in pants still and has a few wee accidents leading up to it. I'm NOT worried, he's still learning and I can see progress.
Nursery are very good - they fully support the potty-training journey and he does well there.

My in-laws though..not so much. DS comes back from theirs with so much washing. What's angered me is apparently MIL telling DH that's he just poo's & wee's everywhere, he'll never get it and even told my DS that she was going to put a nappy back on if he didn't stop - way to go with the positive reinforcement!
We can't afford to put DS into extra nursery (so don't get me wrong - am extremely grateful for in-laws having DS, plus thought they loved having him) and also can't afford to take days off work, but am fearful that their actions are halting my DS's potty training.
He's fine at home so odd that he will just wee everywhere at theirs.

What's going on? How do I manage this? In-laws basically don't want to potty-train from the sounds of it.

Take some time off work, maybe you take one week and your husband/partner another week and get him fully trained yourself without him going to grandparents?

But your post is very contradictory, I don’t understand how he can go a full day without an accident yet poos are still an issue with him ususally going in his pants with a few wee accidents leading up to it... presumably he had a bowel movement most days?!

He just might not be ready yet... regardless it’s totally reasonable that the GPS don’t want him having accidents all over their house.

If you think he is ready by all means take some time off work. However my almost 3 year old granddaughter started potty training about 6 weeks ago and does not need prompting so I wonder if your son is ready. Poos are another issue and she won't do those in the toilet but I think this is common. Our granddaughter is with us one day and other grandparents one day and nursery three days. She is happy to go by herself and we have a toilet seat/step combined like she uses at home. Can your in laws come to your house if they are worried about mess? Just until they are confident

Send the in-laws some instructions by email.
