Nappies or no nappies for nursery?

My son is 3.4 and we have recently been potty training. Most of his wees now go in the potty without any help or prompting. Pooh is a problem. He has toddler diarreah and seems to get literally no warning that he needs a pooh, so isn't getting many of them in the potty (he did today but was standing close to the potty anyway). So nappies or no nappies for nursery when he starts in 2 weeks? I don't want them to have to clean him up because thats not fair on the staff, but I want him to carry on learning too. I really don't know what to do, but at the moment am thinking it will have to be nappies on. Does anyone have any experience of this from a parent or nursery staff point of view? Thank you.

No nappies. They’ll be used to it. Just explain that you’re training and make sure he knows where to go. On the first week I physically took my DS to the toilet cubical when we arrived so he knew that he could go ‘here’.

I’ve worked in a nursery for a while, if you explain your trying to potty train they should be more than willing to help you get him there, and poohy nappies and children is part of the job so I wouldn’t worry about that part.. if it helps put your mind at ease I would maybe suggest pull up nappies this way he still has a nappie on for accidents but Nursey staff can also still take him to the toilet and continue the potty training, sure he will pick it up quickly seeing other children doing the same.

Try pull ups, have heard good things about the Pampers Pull Ups, i belive they do an Active Fit pant and a Baby Dry pant might be worth a try or the Aldi Pull ups.

Pull ups.

DD has a milk allergy and had diarreha as a result, as well as a rash/runny nose etc.

Could it be his milk? Not that you asked, sorry!

The nappies or no nappies question-if he needs a nappy then put him in one . The nursery are required by law to meet his needs in terms of intimate care

No nappies. Nursery will be used to children having accidents. Putting him back in nappies or pull ups will just confuse him.

Why not ask the nursery what they find works best?

Thank you everyone, I will speak to the nursery at his induction and see how they feel, but yes Pull Ups is a good idea thanks.
He was dairy free for over a year on the advice of the GP, but it didn't help and the consultant paediatrician has said to put him back on a normal diet. Fingers crossed he grows out of it soon, very soon!

Check with nursery. Lots will not be happy to use pull ups as they don't help with potty training at all. Ours actively discourages them. Two weeks is a long time in potty training terms so the issue may have resolved itself by then anyway.
