Potty advice for my nearly 2.5 year old DS please

So, we introduced the potty to my little man just after his second birthday and he loved to sit on it, now and again he would have a wee and occasionally poop on it too(sorry)
It happened very slowly due to not being able to to physically tell me he wanted to go but we got to the point where he was dragging me to the bathroom so he could go!
We did a whole week completely dry (daytime only) and then he suddenly decided he didn't want to do it anymore and just stopped and wouldn't even sit on it.

We put it away for a while, and have re-introduced it. He sits on it, happily. But won't go until his pull ups are back on.

Can anyone help me on how to make things happen again?

keep him naked from the waist down and persevere.
i wouldn't have put it away...but hindsight is 20/20 sorry.
is he better able to communicate verbally now?
you could encourage him to pee outside on leaves flowers etc as well as indoors in the tub aiming for items or just put him on the potty every half hour.

maybe get a toilet seat and step and try him there? I've seen targets to stick down the toilet to aim for - he might enjoy that

I’ve just ‘trained’ my 2.5 year old. For the first few days, I was obsessively asking him if he needed a wee & sitting him on the potty. He was quite happy to sit there but would mostly get off & wee a few minutes later on the floor! I came to realise he didn’t need me to tell him to sit on the potty, it took over a week but he learned quite quickly when he needed a wee. He now just goes to the potty independently. I suggest your ds just having pants on. Easy to pull up & down but also gives the wet feeling if they wee. Definitely persevere. Gentle reminders but don’t insists he sits on the potty if he doesn’t need too. Lots of praise & a few chocolate buttons! We are still struggling with pooing in the toilet but he’ll get there.

he is petrified of sitting on the toilet ... even with a toddler seat on it. I bought him one as he started becoming really interested in what mummy and daddy were doing on it but when we asked if he wanted to have go he screamed and was genuinely scared of being on it so I'm not going to force that one at all.

Were off to a good start today... fingers crossed it continues!
