DS refusing to take nappy off

My DS has just turned 3 and I think he's finally ready for potty training. He's used the potty several times now and is always very pleased with himself. A few times he has said I need a wee/poo and runs to the potty so he obviously knows when he's going. Sometimes he just does it on the floor but always comes and tells me straightaway. He will happily run around naked for an hour or two but then gets quite upset and wants his nappy back on. I always just put it back on at this point. I'm not sure what to do, keep doing what I'm doing or tell him there are no more nappies and he has to use the toilet from now on?

Could you put pants on him instead of the nappy?

I find with pants he just goes in them, I guess he thinks they're like a nappy? When he's upset I'll suggest pants but he just wants a nappy.

We used lots of praise and encouragement, are you using pull up pants, we used a training seat with steps to make it for more fun to use the toilet and told him to try and use it each time he needed the toilet.

It takes a while for it all to click I think. Just persevere. We used pull-ups which DS love.
He is 3 1/2 now and has just said to the workman who is fitting a new sink - DS was holding a spanner helpfully and chatting- 'I done a huge poo today. Did you done a huge poo?'
Workman looked a bit taken aback and replied 'Erm no, not today, can you pass me that spanner please and hold this?' and disappeared with his head back under the sink. Grin

DS is a little tinker and I know he will raise the issue again later on. It is best, I have found, to ignore him and distract him so I am about to send him into the garden to see if there are any bees. Poor workman!

No he just has regular pants. I don't think he'd do very well with pull ups.

GrinLulu that's brilliant. DS has been told no more nappies and he seems to be doing ok, although has done two wees on the floor so far Hmm
