Should we go back to nappies

DD 2.10, started potty training three months ago. All seemed to go well, engaged with going on pity and in toilet, speech quite good so happily chats about it.

Would prompt to go on potty about every 44 minutes etc, nappy at nap time etc.

Except that's where it ends. There's been no real progress toward letting us know that she needs the toilet. About 50% of poos she will say something but I don't think she's ever let us know she needs a wee and most of the time she says she doesn't need one when asked (we then encourage her to sit on the potty). I do think she's holding it in a bit as she eels to have quite large wees if she hasn't been for a while and doesn't seem to wee in the bath or pool. But she seems to often have no idea she needs to or is going. She's had three accidents today and most days there are at least one.

Sometimes I think she doesn't care that she's wet but today she seemed surprised and a bit upset.

Any tips on what to do next ? Back to nappies seems such a regression but I worry that she just isn't ready and we may make it worse if she starts to feel bad (we don't make a fuss when she has accidents but today she seemed a bit upset but she's having a clingy day)?

Is this normal? Starts full time nursery in four months so I am a bit nervous about this too

It sounds like she isn't ready.

It sounds like she isn't ready. Both mine clicked about a day of wetting themselves. As in they will say they needed a wee. But might not make it to the toilet. There are still accidents but it's not 3 times a day either.
