22mo doesn't seem to know when he needs the potty... Help!!!

On day 8 of disastrous potty training. This is our 2nd try with ds2 after a 2 month break. He really doesn't seem to know when he needs to pee or poo. Should I persevere or leave it a few more months. My sil trained her two by leaving them to have loads of accidents then they finally got it... Any suggestions?

I agree he's just not ready yet and you can't force it. My DS was three before he managed it, he just wasn't interested before that and it took going to nursery and seeing other children using the toilet to motivate him. Still took him until at least 3.5 to master number 2s on the toilet! He still now has an occasional small accident at 4 if he's busy playing and can't be arsed going to the toilet! Not dry at night yet either.
