Although I can't be 100% sure there's nothing medical (I do have a gp appointment coming up) I'm pretty sure it's behavioural as he's showed ability in the past. I think he just can't be bothered, he's happy just carrying on playing and weeing or pooing in his pants. Maybe it's an attention thing as he is difficult in other ways and has a younger brother, who's one to complete with for my attention. I've just had enough though. I spend my whole day washing his clothes and trying to persuade him to go to the toilet. I've tried everything in terms of encouragement (bribes), nothing motivates him. I've just changed him for the third time today. I've left him naked from the waste down and told him if he can't use the toilet he'll have to wear a nappy and handed him a nappy. He's gone ballistic now and is having a half naked tantrum having thrown the nappy in the bin. I know approach probably isn't advised but I'm just sick of it. What can I do when nothing is working?!

I've got this problem too with my 3yo.

Through only real success stories from my reading of the thread are turning a corner or GP being helpful.

It doesn't seem like a big enough problem for it to require GP for me - although we have a few changes of pants every day and often a flood in the car seat or onto the floor.

I have to admit we are not very stressed by it yet either. We are generally pretty relaxed and maybe we are being too relaxed. We don't really remind her to go consistently. I'm thinking about telling her she can't wear tights (which she loves) as a natural consequences type approach.

She is my middle of 3 and the most highly strung by nature if that is relevant.

My girl is 4 in June and we've been potty training for over a year. No problem with pops but she is often wet, just a small amount, then sits in it and doesn't tell you. Occasionally she really wets. She gets next to no warning but at other times can get it all in the toilet when the mood suits. I think some of it is for attention (new sibling), sometimes too busy to go and sometimes because she wants to keep her pretty dress and tights on that she has chosen to wear!! Nightmare!!!

I just started a thread about this with my DD who has just turned 4 and still having so many accidents, then I saw this thread.
It is reassuring to know there are others in the same boat! I honestly don't know what the answer is, I just hope that in time she will grow out of it. I will be interested to see what others say though. Some stories of hope would at least give me the motivation to keep going with it!

My son is 4 now but still having accidents unfortunately. I'm just having to be patient. It's hardwork.
