Any advice when DC doesn't have full accidents but little dribbles in pants

My DD (2) has been potty training for a while now, and we thought we'd cracked it before christmas when she went for 3 weeks without a single accident, dribble etc. She was asking to go every time, so it was great not to have to prompt her.

But since Christmas Day, she has had frequent damp pants (she will hold the rest in until she gets to the loo/potty) and a couple of full accidents. She has also started pooing in pants which was unheard of before.

She has been suffering quite a bit from constipation, so I am worried she is avoiding the loo for this reason. We also think it might be to do with too many new toys and not wanting to stop playing.

Anyone got any experience of this kind of regression. We know she has the skills to do it, but don't know why she keeps resisting going to the loo.

Please help! Thanks

My dd did this on and off for ages. Completley ignore the dribbles could be related to be constipated if she has a full bowel could be pressing on the bowel. If she does wet or poo her pants just take her up stair and change her and clean her up. I should really try and sort out constipated before it gets a problem. Up her fluids as much as you can, limit chocolate etc increase friut and veg. Once she going properley and regularley just gentle encourage her to go on the toilet. Its really hard but stay relaxed and keep up the praise every time she does go to the toilet even if she does have a little dribble just say well done what a big wee in the toilet never mind only a little dribble. My dd is 3.7 and stil has the odd dribble. I expect all the rich food at christmas had made the constipation worse.

Thanks for the advice cedar. DD has always had a few difficulties with poos since weaning, and has plenty of fruit/veg etc but doesn't drink loads. In the last couple of months we have started to give her diluted apple juice rather than water as she will drink more of it. I think I will take her to the GP since quite often her bum bleeds so she may need more to help her poo comfortably. I will see if that helps although coukd get messy I guess as she is avoiding the potty for poos at the mo.

Thanks again. pulapula

My dd also has diluted apple juice to about half and half. She also like it more if its warm, she likes have a hot drink like me. We had to do a week of lactolose to get her back to going regularley. Its ok to use with little ones it works by softening the stool. Good luck with the Dr dont let them fob you off. Just to get her drinking more you just give her neat apple juice then whilst she not looking slowley start to dilute it a bit. Good luck.
