newbie - thinking about potty training books

please don't flame me, dd is 16 months (I know far too little) but is very interested in her bodily functions, says 'poo' when she needs to go and points to the loo a lot (I'm aware this is unconnected!!!). But I'm interested in getting her a potty book, am just astonished they are all gendered (and online shopping means I can't see contents). Is this because the boy ones are about standing to pee?
Is there a good one that's just about sitting on the potty, not about having different equipment??! Advice please!

However DD really liked the Princess Polly one. Possibly because it has a button you press that cheers at certain points. It certainly seemed to tell a decent story about using the potty.

Not a book, but DD was obsessed with YouTube videos of cats using the toilet (this is also.meant she went through a stage ofnteying to stand on the toilet and "scratching" with her foot when she was done)

thanks thurlow we've got one of the pirate pete/princess polly books (mil gave it to us) about please and thankyou, dd loves the cheering, though I sort of hate the pirate=boy, princess=girl thing and hope she can be excited about pirates too...! I might see if they have potty books at nursery and ask if she's interested in them there before investing

Flymo my dd is a little bit older, nearly 17 months, but I've been thinking about potty training for a couple of months now. She says poo and wee when she is going and she hates wearing a nappy. She kicks and screams on nearly every nappy change so it isn't very nice for me! At the same time I don't want to start training too soon and put her too. I have no idea where to begin. I saw a cheap, basic white potty in the supermarket so I thought of just getting that and giving it a go but then I wonder if I'd have more lucky with one of thosew singing, dancing potties I've seen online. No idea where to start really!
