Good evening ladies,
I am hoping to try and gain some comfort and advise in my little man's toileting.
My little man is 4 in August ( currently 3 1/2 years old) and he is still going through phases or being dry all day/week, to having 1+ accidents a day! We are not dry at night - i put him to bed in pull ups
I think he is pretty much there when it comes to wee's - or he tells me " mummy i need a wee" so that gives me a chance to say hold it , whilst rushing to a loo/bush etc.
But when it comes to the no.2's we are a disaster!!
I am not sure whether its a case of
a) He is too busy playing to want to stop and go off for a poo
b) He doesnt know he is pooing
c) He is scared/ embarrassed etc about going for a poo.
I have told him on many occasions to either tell me when he needs to poo or to just go to the potty and do one. A very small percentage of the time he will take himself - some times he gets it spot on, other times we get the little skids in the pants where its a bit of a close call. Other times he just stands there and the face goes - i have to then throwing him ( not literally) on the loo, to the result of it coming straight out! Other times i'll say if your farting, go and sit on the loo as sometimes thats the trigger he needs to get him there. ( He is not very good at getting straight to the loo, normally "fanny's around" with taking his pants down, or putting toys down)
I am worried ( which probably scares him subconsciously ) that we wont crack it before he goes to school in September! Today alone at nursery he had 3 poo accidents ( which could of been a dicky tum) but he just stood there and did it - probably couldnt control the runny ones. Do i make nursery sit him on the loo about 10 mins after lunch- would that confuse him or make him rely on someone telling him when to go? or do i keep let him make the decisions.
He has been going through a funny phase for the last few months where something triggers an upset tum in him so ive tried to stop milk and fish - he has alpro soya milk instead.
Sorry for waffling on - i'm one worried mummy
Any ideas/ suggestions/ nursery ideas etc are VERY VERY gratefully received
Hannah
