This was in a leaflet given to me by my hv. What is everyone else's experiences? My just turned 3 year old still has a fair few accidents and will wet himself if not reminded. I thought that was just normal for his age but now I am doubting myself. I don't really know what I can do about it though, he has been in underpants for 6 months now and is dry overnight.

I wasn't dominated by my child's toilet needs Confused

DS will can hold onto his wee from 8am to 6pm at a certain child minders as he doesn't like going In their house.

He's always held it when we were out to a couple of months ago. Refusing public toilets. Meant I could go shopping all day and not have a worry as DS would be fine till I got home

My dc were dry in the day by three. Dc 2 was dry in the day by 2.5. By dry I mean accidents were extremely rare and they would go for a wee unprompted. My friends dc was dry in the day at 18m, and my friend did not champion early potty training at all, in fact, the lo kept taking off her nappy in a bid to be like her older child. My other friend has a dc who is still in nappies at 3, who is a bright and able child, but believe it or not, is just not ready yet. No one is in the slightest bit worried about him.

I would say from my experience working in a day nursery years back, that the children generally children became dry between 21m and 3.5, with the average/mode being about 2y9m.

I wouldn't worry about it, if he is using the potty/toilet with encouragement then sounds like he is right on track
