I don't have to night train, do I?

My 3.5 year old DD has been dry in the day since she was 27 months or so. I have always been waiting for these dry night nappies, but every night her pull-up is absolutely soaked through. She doesn't drink anything after her dinner (usually about 5:45pm) and she always uses the toilet before bed. If I try and night train her in some way, it won't work, will it? I have never 'lifted' her, she is a big child, I am usually alone with her so I would have to wake her.

It just seems like all her little peers are dry at night as well as in the day. I don't really want to mess with her sleep unnecessarily if there will be no benefit in it. Help?

No, you're right. Although do try to get the pull-up off her absolutely first thing in the morning so that you can be sure she's filling it overnight rather when she wakes up. She'll get there when she's physiologically ready.

Neither of mine were dry at that age, but they got there in the end! (4.5 yr old still needs lifting every night)

Thanks for the reassurance! Good tip Yves. When she's woken in the night for other reasons her pull up has also been wet but I guess it is possible she is doing it when she wakes.

She may well not be now, but when she is physiologically ready to be dry all night she may well still fill the pull-up in the morning if she gets the chance, because she can. So taking it off straight away is a good habit for you to get into now for your own benefit in the future Grin

Not only do you not have to "night rain", I do not think you can. Heredity and hormones will be far more powerful than anything you can do. In my experience all you can do is sit it out, wait and invest in a good washing machine! Sorry to be a (pessimist?) realist but 5 DC later I have cause to be.

I'm going to buy more pull-ups then as there's clearly no rush! Grin

For potty training, she just decided one day she didn't want to wear nappies and that was it in the day, who knows, maybe she'll do the same for pull-ups.
