DD will ask to pee but not poo!

My DD will be 3 in May and back before Christmas, we thought we had potty training sorted - now it's a different story!
She will ask to go to the toilet to pee but I couldn't tell you the last time she told us she needed to poo - resulting in lots of accidents in her underwear. Her time is split between us as her parents, nursery 3 days a week and her grandparents for 2 days a week and I've tried to explain to everyone involved in her care what her toilet routine should be. The nursery are very supportive but I have no idea what happens when she is with my PIL.
We've tried talking to her about rewards and she always seems exciting at the prospect but never responds. I am at my wits end with the whole thing and have no idea what to do! My 'D' H seems to think she should be punished each time she poos her pants but I am totally against this and think it will be completely counter productive and I'm not prepared to go down that road. She has done it in the past and has even at times taken herself to the toilet and then told us she's done it but she will NOT tell the adults around her that she needs to go.
Please help!!!

No answers but we have a similar problem. Have been potty training for 2 weeks. My son is 2.9. He has done brilliantly with wee but is hit and miss with poo. He doesn't seem to anticipate it as well. Any ideas?

Do not punish her! You'll open up a whole other can of worms and risk her withholding etc

Make her go every few hours. She might just be bad at anticipating the need. Have you told her to ask? Sounds daft but I hear loads of people just say 'tell mummy if you need a wee, okay?' and no mention of poo. I would find out everyone else's methods so it's consistent and get PIL and nursery on the same page.

It's a very common problem, I could have written your post a few months ago. I have no helpful advice except to keep doing what you're doing and one day the penny will drop and the poo accidents will stop.

Yes stay - we've all been encouraging her to ask and she can tell you that she should but never does.
I have no intention of punishing her - I'm sure I said that in the OP.
I guess all we can do is just continue to encourage her and take her regularly.
