I can't tell if DS is dry at night or not, I'd it a good idea to let him try it?

DS is just turned 5. He took a long while to be dry in the day, but is pretty fine now. Only has accidents occasionally if he is engrossed in an activity and holds it too long.

I know you can't make kids dry at night and its a hormone thing, but sort of feel we should try it sometime.

He wears what he calls 'night time pants' (drynites) I've been trying to get him to go to the toilet last thing before bed and when he gets up, but he can be a bit grumpy and reluctant if tired or hungry for breakfast! . I think he is sometimes just not bothering to get up for a wee, but I'm not sure how often. The pants vary from almost dry to quite heavy, normally somewhere in between.

He has shown some enthusiasm about not wearing the night pants, but I don't want to get him all worried if he does end up with a wet bed.

Any tips for having a go welcome. :)

I rewarded for dry pull-ups in the morning, with the idea that if I got several in a row I would know it was ok to try without nappies. Is that a possibility?

I let them try if they really wanted. On the understanding that if they wet obviously their bodies weren't ready and it was straight back in nappies.
Just have your spare bedding ready to go!

He certainly loves a reward...he was on about a sticker chart as he remembers having one when being encouraged to try the potty!

Might try that just now for dry pull ups then prepare the spare ,bedding for school holidays when I have some time off so don't have to be changing beds then getting up for work.

Thanks. :)

Summer holidays worked for us (but winter ok if you have a tumble dryer) and it's worth double layering the undershirt and waterproof sheets. Oh, and a duvet protector. Drying a duvet in 12 hours is tricky, even on a hot day. Primark cheapy sheets dry very fast indeed...

Undersheet, not undershirt. Sodding American auto-correct.
