DD will always go for a poo and a wee before bedtime, completely unprompted and, in the past, has been fine with letting us know when she needs a wee. Unfortunately there was an incident in a public toilet where she fell in a little bit so we've now regressed somewhat.

DW and I are off this week (4th anniversary tomorrow) so we thought we'd tackle the potty training head on. So DD is wearing a nappy to bed, then just knickers all day, so far she's wet 4 times despite asking if she wanted the toilet, when we put her on the toilet nothing happens. But still the bedtime poo.

Is it simply a case of her not being ready?

Should we persevere for the rest of this week?

When you say 'will you let me know if you need a wee?' she simply replies with a 'no'. Same goes for her telling any of her toys.

She did announce that she needed a wee whilst weeing yesterday, so not really a large enough window to act.

Thanks for reading.

I think I would be guided by your DD. She is telling you at the moment that she doesn't want to do it, and she is still very young, so I would let it go for a bit, and just keep on with what you had been doing before.

Don't underestimate the effect of her falling in the toilet either. I can still remember a toilet overflowing when I was tiny. I thought I was going to drown. I was in my teens before I could flush a toilet without feeling scared, daft as that sounds!
