Cracked weeing but holding poo in

My DD (2.10) has been training for a couple of weeks and is great weeing on toilet/potty; tells us or takes herself to potty when she needs to go, can hold it when needed etc, but has only done three poos in the almost 2 weeks (was previously every day), and then she's known it was about to happen but got anxious, flapped about and ended up doing it in pants before we could get to her.

She seems reluctant to do a poo, and as she was so regular before I can only guess she's holding it in. She still has a nappy for afternoon nap and bedtime so I'm surprised she's not waiting for nappy and going then.

Any tips/advice gratefully received!

No advice to offer I'm afraid but just to say we are in pretty much the same boat! Dd only on day 4 and has done really well so far, straight to toilet as hates the potty and very pleased with how she's doing. But she's keeping her poo in until nighttime and I have no idea how to encourage her to do them in the day. Here's hoping it's just a phase? clutching at straws

Same here! Dd 2.5 has been out of nappies ib the day for 10 days, no accidents wee-wise but very reluctant to poo! We've had a couple in her knickers and a couple in pullups just before bed but nowhere near as often as usual. Keeping an eye on this for tips!

it's normal, it can happen right up to school age. do little thing.at first, like encourage going in to the.bathroom to poo the.nappy, changing in there and hand washing.

We are in exactly the same position, and I don't know what to do! 3 weeks in here, totally cracked wees, but has gone from twice a day to every three days. He has had a few poo accidents, not because he didn't know but he wouldn't go anywhere else. Have offered a nappy but he won't put it on. Have had a few on the potty but he's still trying to jump off at the last point, and still withholding. Please someone tell me What to do! Or do we just sit it out?!

Just to report back, one week in and we've finally had a poo on the toilet! She had been holding in until bed time but yesterday eve I could tell she needed to so sat her in the loo and said shall I go away for a minute? She said yes and so I just stood outside the door and she did it. So maybe that's partly it, it's hard to do with people watching! I also just stopped mentioning it for a few days too as recommended by a friend of mine who had the same thing. Good luck everyone, I'm sure we haven't totally cracked it yet but a big improvement on where we were.

We had this with DC3 so we made it a routine till he got the hang of it. Every day after lunch he sat in the loo and watched 2 episodes of Fireman Sam on the iPad. He wasn't sitting on the loo (out of 4 kids only DC1 used a potty by their choice) long enough to relax and do a poo till we started this. Within a couple of days he got it and started going when he needed without the iPad. He didn't want me to stay in the room with him and needed his feet to rest on a stool.

Toilet trained DC4 just over a month ago. She just perches on the edge of the toilet but wanted me to stay. So I just sat on the step stool and read a few books till the poo come. She especially liked Princess Polly's potty when you see the wee and poo in the potty. Initially it did feel like I spent quite a while reading books in the loo but it was a couple of times a day for 2 weeks. She was 2.5.

They all do it differently. It is cracking what works for each one.

So glad I read this. My DS (2.9) is the same. Only in our third week, one day he's fantastic the next he freezes and goes right in his pants. No issues with wees. I'm not alone, thank you!
