Potty trained for when she was almost 2 she took to it very well and was clean in about 2/3 weeks. She's always had the odd wet accident when she poorly or tired but for the last few months she's started having more wet accidents. I think it's laziness! It's not every day but some days it can happen upto 6 times. Iv started telling her off about it. Not really sure how to stop it!

I would leave her in her wet clothing. If you change her straight away she gets what she wants while her bum is still nice and warm. Leave it to go cold and nasty and she may reconsider..

I don't think this has anything to do with laziness. Leaving a child in wet pants is cruel and not advisable by any sort of medical professional. You shouldn't punish a child for wetting themselves as it will lead to more problems. Punishing them is psychologically damaging.

I think she might have been trained before she was fully ready, but there could be many other reasons.

I don't really like the idea of leaving her in wet clothes. I do think she was ready, she got it in a few weeks and was brilliant until the last few months. Thanks for the link I'll have a read.

I don't give much for what care professionals say. Kids are being molly cuddled too much. They should be brought up with love and consequence. Nit just love.

Good luck.

My DD is 5 and still has occasional accidents and I think she just leaves it far too late to go and a bit comes out. It is frustrating but nothing I do or say makes a difference so I am just hoping she will grow out of it. I also remind her regularly.

ElleBellyBeeblebrox · 30/05/2014 18:59

Don't leave her in wet clothes. And try not to tell her off, it's not likely to be laziness. Have you had a wee sample checked to rule out a water infection? Plenty of water to drink, and remind her regularly to use the toilet, maybe with a sticker chart for each time she goes for a wee on the toilet.

Dizzywhore · 01/06/2014 08:28

No infection. I'm pretty sure it's just her leaving it to late. May try the sticker chart again, used that when she was first potty training. It normally happens when we are at friends houses when she is busy playing. I'll make sure I take her every 20 minutes to avoid accidents.

I feel your pain! Its been 10 months for us. Thankfully no poo accidents and dry at night, but still odd accidents during the day. Can be ok for days, then 3 accidents in a day. We've tried reminding her, letting her decide when to go, immediate rewards, promise of longer term rewards. Nothing seems to crack it. I've now said I wont be carrying spare pants etc with me any more and if we're out and she has an accident we are coming straight home. I've also said if she has an accident at home she is to get her herself changed, put wet clothes in laundry basket etc and no more play until she does so.
