Accidentally half night trained DS when not ready

Started normal potty training about two weeks ago with DS (2 and a quarter). It has been going really well and had v few accidents. I have still been putting him in nappies at night as figured that was something separate to tackle a little way down the line. Baby Number two is coming soon and thought would be easier all round if DS was still in nappies at night time for a bit.

The problem is that DS won't use his nappy at night and so sometimes wakes up at 3 or 4 needing the loo (then a nightmare to get back to sleep afterwards). It seems counter intuitive to say no no do the wee in your nappy when he obviously is doing the right thing but am struggling a bit to cope with such a lack of sleep. And nervous about this still happening when bsby comes. I don't think he's ready to just get up and go by himself (is that what other people do?) and is still in a cot in any case (soon to be changed).

What should I do? Have thought about limiting fluid in take etc but is he maybe just too young in any case to make it through a whole night. What did everyone else do?

If he is waking and not wetting I would crash on. Maybe switch to a bed a put a potty in his room. This is what we did with my daughter and it worked well.

What about putting him on the toilet/potty when you go to bed so he isn't fully awake and that may last him til the morning?

Thanks fir reply. He is waking and I take him to the loo. Did you find it worked easily? I just can't imagine him efficiently getting up neatly pulling down trousers and then just leaving the potty and hopping back in bed. It just seems to grown up to be fathomable! And DS is obsessed with emptying potty in loo, saying bye bye etc. Also worried about having a potty full of wee just hanging out in there all night for fear of another wake up and spillage etc. did that ever happen to you?

DS did this, although a bit later. We encouraged him to drink a lot with dinner and then removed his milk half an hour before bed. If he asked for it we did give him it though.
I'm not sure it really helped, but after a few months he was sleeping through.

I have a similar situation with my dd who's 2.8. Started toilet training a fortnight ago. Past few nights she's woken very unhappy as she doesn't want to wee in her Gaston pants Hmm. No amount of telling her she wasn't wearing them worked so I am going out today to buy pyjama pants for her. I've explained that I'll take her her to the loo when I go to bed in the hope she can last from 10pm till morning.

Not much of a problem till I tell you that she only started sleeping through 6 days before she started waking for a wee [sleepy emoticon]

It's a phase. It's a phase. It's a phase.

Do you switch on the light when he goes to the toilet at night? Do you chat and praise him for peeing in the loo, as you would during the day?

if he wakes for a wee then take him to the toilet. I never left a potty in the room and just got up if they needed to go to the bathroom.
