Overnight training - pull ups or cold turkey

DD is 3 y 6 m
She potty trained about 7 months ago (seemed like a big deal at the time but now I can't remember exactly when it was!). Basically we waited till she asked for pants, then went cold turkey, very few accidents, all good.

She's still in nappies overnight. Although she doesn't regularly nap she does sometimes fall asleep in car etc and hasn't had an accident when napping for months.

Her bedtime nappies have always been wet but I think mainly because she wee's in it when it when it first goes on and also when she first gets up - so not really overnight.

Last night she called me through in the night to take her to the loo for a wee. Nappy dry this morning. She says she doesn't want nappies at night any more.

So - put her in pull ups (which she knows are nappies and may object to). Or just stick a rubber sheet thingy on the bed and go for it?

(Also I'm thinking of pulling out her potty and putting that at the side of her bed so she can go herself rather than calling me - is that a good idea?)

Night time dryness is a hormonal thing. You can't force it by removing nappies, reducing fluids after a certain time will help as will taking her to wee before you go to sleep but you can't rely on this.

I'd if pull ups tbh cos trust me cleaning sheets at 3am isn't fun.

I put her in pull ups last night but she was not impressed. I had dubbed them "special pants" but she saw right through me.

These are not special pants mummy it's a nappy. There is a baby on the packet. These are for babies. I don't want to wear these. I want to wear normal pants like I do in daytime.

So I have said that if she keeps her pull ups dry for a whole week I will let her go to bed in normal pants. Apart from anything else that will give me time to source and buy a waterproof mattress protector.

Haven't ever done sticker charts but might try that to illustrate the progress.

Anyway that's two nights in a row dry. Though on both nights she did call me through to take her to the loo
