Poo Issues

We started dd for the third attempt at potty training today. First time she just wasn't ready then second time 5 days in she got very upset about needing a poo wouldn't go near the potty etc so we gave in. We had two or three poos on the potty without much fuss before hand.

Today has been okay two wees on the potty one - unprompted then three accidents and a poo in her pants, two of the accidents were when she needed to poo (she kept it in a while). She got a bit upset when she needed to poo then ran off away from the potty. I'm not really sure where to go if wees are okay but not poos do we continue or go back to nappies - I know its only day one but I don't want dd being stressed over poo's all week as she got slightly constipated last time

How old is she?
My DS2 has really been ready for toilet training for ages but he holds in his poo and ends up constipated so I've decided to hold off for a while (he's 2.5)
I'm hoping he'll just decide one day and that'll be it, like DD did.

Sorry that's not a very helpful post, just wanted to empathise!

Dd is 2.6. She does find it difficult pulling up and down her pants despite me trying to get her to try as much as possible - always wants dp or I to do it.

Just curious how long did it take your dd to poo on the potty if you can remember?

we have just successfully got our dd2 out of nappies she is 3.2, shocking I know. dd1 was 2 when dry in the day and 2.5 at night, so I was under the illusion that dd2 would be as easy if not easier. foolish me! we have tried a couple of times but she would just with hold her poo (wee's were fine) she ended up constipated not because of diet just from with holding, she has now been on movicol; which is something I really didn't want to give her; for three months as she would only poo in the night and was making her sore as she was sleeping all night yuk! since the movicol she started going in her afternoon nap so i started going up a few minutes early waking her and letting her play on dd1 nintendo DS (which is normally not allowed) and have her dummy which she only has in bed if she would sit and try to poo. she has now been pooing on her potty for 2 weeks and doesn't have the dummy but still does play the ds, we then flush the poo down and wash our and the ds geos back in the drawer til the next day. since last Monday she has been fully dry when not in bed and no accidents. on one hand I feel as if I am storing up more trouble by starting a new set up around how/when/where etc that she will poo but feel that I can deal with each stage individually til she is 'normal'.

I think what I am trying to say is there is no such thing as 'training' as such its not like training them to hang their coat up or take their shoes off as the enter the house it is physiological so if they cant they cant no amount of stickers, smarties or rewards will make any difference if there body isn't giving them the right signals they cant perform. having said that you need to test it out every so often for a few days to see what happens, it should be easy for you and them. I am glad I didn't give in to peer pressure of my dd's nursery friends even the ones within a few days dob have all been dry for a year but I just felt she wasn't and was proved right every time she wee'd on the floor and didn't even care or she with held and went in the night. fingers crossed she keeps it up and I can get her dry at night too, hey ho there is always something else to think about!! lol

DD was nearly 3.
She one day decided she didn't want to wear nappies anymore as they were 'for babies' and that was it.
I never really 'trained' her and she was dry immediately and pooed on the potty/in the toilet straight away, despite never wanting to try before then.
She's only ever had 2-3 wee accidents too.
I think at 2.5 there's no rush but I would think about getting the poo issue sorted first, makes it easier if they're regular anyway! I need to take my own advice as far as ds1 goes too as he can hold it in for days at a time and it's probably really uncomfortable for him when he does go..
Good luck!

Thanks dd is regular (ish) another poo not on the potty today and five wees on the potty. Her misses were when we were in the garden and just before dinner when she was playing 'running away from me'.

We have a 6 month old also and dd still says shes a baby at times so have been avoiding using 'big girl' phrases, so not to put her off.
