Hi. I'm looking for some pointers please.
My DS is 2.7. We started potty training about a mo th ago. He started well, I thought. Especially when at home and without any nappy/ pants on.
I finitely think he has the physical ability to hold wee in s bladder and he showed no stress about the subject, even wanting to use the loo rather than e potty when we stayed with my friend whose 4 yo dd was using the loo at home. Loads of patties about the place, travel potty, new pants, stickers etc.
but for some reason we didn't make it past us putting him on the potty or loo. In the first week he would even put himself on the potty for a wee or a poo.
But he never asked to go. unless it was a poo.
He is fluent, and quite chatty so it's not a language thing, I don't think.
Then more recently, not only did he not ask but he had an increasing number of accidents and if he asked to go, it was for a poo and it was an emergency.
I decided maybe he wasn't ready after all so have put him back in nappies this week.
I'm worried I've fucked up tbh. He gets a bit sore now, even Ith frequent changing. WWYD?
Does this post even make any sense?
Thanks v much in advance.

I'm potty training my second child like this, it's exhausting! They are both very independent and used the potty then toilet very early but it's just dragging on for months. Last time I put him back in nappies to go out and it dragged on for almost a year until I finally put a stop to nappies, this time I've just said no nappies and he's had loads of accidents (we started at the beginning of the summer holidays) but he seems to be getting it now - I just have to keep on asking if he needs to go and keep on reminding him when he has an accident.

I tried and failed with DD twice before she got it. The third time she just knew what to do. I don't think she could tell properly that she needed a wee before. She was able to use the potty with a much higher success rate the third time. I'd give it a few weeks and try again. He's only 2 and a half, I'm not going to whittle about it until mine get to 3 and can't do it. Once it works, it'll work.

Thanks natural I might do that and just cope witH the accidents.
We do go out a lot and if we walk then I take the carry potty but for long car journeys it's been pull ups so I guess that that might well have set him back a bit.
I really had expected to spend a week at home with him nekkid and jut get it pretty much sorted Blush

Don't worry.
I tried with DD and failed, she wasn't ready. Tried again 6 months later, she made a smooth and dry transition to pants. For wees only. Poos took loads longer! Night time took about another 6 months after she was totally clean and dry during the day.

In the car is the only time my ds actually requests the potty! All other times he will just pee all over the floor/pants.....
