Day 1: pootastic

So dd only normally does 1 poo a day, but today, on the first day of potty training she did about 9 tiny poos in addition to her main one. Big girl pant disaster as my policy was to bin rather than wash pooey ones. What's going on? unfortunately timed tummy bug or deliberate pooing?

Same here too :( I'm putting it down to the hot weather. We were brilliant with wees - 3 out of 4 on the toilet. But then in the afternoon as it started to get seriously hot we had 2 pairs of knickers full of poo. I got DH to sort them out on a hot wash but it was all a bit grim.

She has been using the loo for a few weeks sporadically but the day I started toilet training I have had "no like it" and a refusal to do a poo until this afternoon.

I feel your pain. I poured my first glass of wine as soon as I could :). Good luck for tomorrow

BananaPie · 01/08/2013 21:04

Haha! I spent most of the afternoon looking forward to the glass of wine. Didn't help with the poo though. Salvaged pants on a hot wash.

Another one with so many poos! We are 2 weeks in to pt, and to be fair we now only get one accident every couple of days. BUT since starting to use the potty DD does so many more poos! We've had a few days when we've had 6 or 7! Thankfully most caught on potty so not many thrown out pants, but boy does it keep you on your toes!
Good luck

just the opposite day 1 of potty training and no poos

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 01/08/2013 22:59

We're on day 4, we've had one accident each day since pants went on. I'm desperate to get out and about. I've got a travel potty. Any tips?

suntodayplease · 02/08/2013 09:43

I guess tips for going out are take plenty of spare clothes, wipes, nappy sacks for any wet clothes. We've got a portable potty with specific liners which make disposing of anything they do a lot easier, but plenty of my friends have just taken out the normal potty. If we are doing longish journeys in the car or pushchair I have put a little hand towel on the seat but no accidents yet. I am dressing DD in easy access clothes so its easier to get her on the potty in a hurry.
I've found I have to watch her a bit more as I think out playing in parks etc result in more distractions so even if they need to go they try and hold it in and say they don't need to go even when they are dancing about because they can't stay still! Even if accidents happen its not the end of the world, as long as you can get them changed and dry again we've not had any problems.
Good luck, you'll be fine. I found the first few outings pretty stressful and must have asked 100's of times!

Thanks sun,

I'll let you know how it goes!

Happiestinwellybobs · 02/08/2013 18:13

Hope you had a better day 2. We only had one wee accident - over excitement at the dog coming home! Hoping this is how it's going to continue. Still need wine though so sent DH out for some Grin

BananaPie · 02/08/2013 18:31

One wee and two poo accidents (so far), and a good few wees in the potty. DH has bought more pants and more wine! First trip outside - 5 mins to the post box.

Any idea when they actually start to tell you they need the potty?

It's been about half and half today. DD is 2.2 and been using the toilet every now and again for a couple of months. I did buy a potty at 18 months and she has used it a few times but now wants the toilet and refuses to contemplate the potty.

I've been trying r

Happiestinwellybobs · 02/08/2013 19:28

Sorry - to pick up on cues to see whether she wants to go.

But like DH said before, our nephews were 3 and 4 still needed to be reminded or asked whether they need to go every so often, so it's not going to happen overnight.

Not been brave enough to venture out!!

BananaPie · 02/08/2013 19:46

Sounds like she's doing amazingly well happy! Mine is 2.5 and I'm not sure she really gets it properly yet - she point blank refused an offer of the potty immediately before her one wee accident. Oh well, it can only get better! Washing machine is on, toddler is in bed and wine is poured!

Whoops, meant "happiest". It's been a long day...

I'm on my second glass already :)

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 02/08/2013 20:45

We went out! And he didn't wee at all. But that meant no accidents.

He has not taken to being reminded though. Tomorrow we've decided not to remind him at all, and let him lead. He does ask on himself on occasion.

He's 2.4 and has got the language skills. He's up to 2-3 hours between wees now, Up from 30 mins earlier This week. We've just arranged to go out properly next week, so no doubt we'll have more drama to share then!

Good luck, folks, and enjoy your wine.

BananaPie · 02/08/2013 21:07

Good luck underwater I'm too worried about the amount of cleaning up to risk letting her take the lead on asking!

Accident central today. Hope for better tomorrow.

Happiestinwellybobs · 04/08/2013 08:27

It all seems to be going okay here I think. We had one more accident yesterday. I went and bought chocolate buttons as an extra incentive. Bad idea.... She wanted to try and do a wee every 30 seconds. So we're back to smiley faces on her chart.

However she is back at nursery tomorrow so won't get the one on one attention. I'm thinking of sending her with a chart - hoping they'll be okay with that - and loads of knickers!

BananaPie · 04/08/2013 12:59

Hope today's going better for both of you? We've managed a couple of poos in the potty - yay! Still plenty in the pants as well though. And still no real sign of her asking to use it.

Nursery day tomorrow for us too - think we'll send her with lots of spare clothes and instructions to bung her on the potty every hour or so!

2 accidents here. Both my fault. Hadn't realised it had been over 2 hours since she had been and I was chatting in the other room. She was shouting for "daddy" and had pulled off her knickers and was pointing to the poo on the tiles!!

But we are definitely getting better at her telling us she needs to go :). And Poo goes to Pooland story working for us - she even waved bye bye to the poo Grin

BananaPie · 04/08/2013 19:37

Not bad at all! At least the poo landed on the tiles! We're doing ok with wees, but washing machine is now on full of rinsed out pooed-on pants and the picnic rug...

We did have an accident-free trip to the park (which included 3 loo stops!)

It's just such a weird co- incidence that the increase in poos started at the same time as potty training!
