Hi,
Our eldest DD potty trained very quickly at 2.5 - as we waited till she was able to do all the 'indicators'
With smallest DD (22 months) we got the potty out when she was 18 months - so that it was a familiar object, and she has seen our eldest (and us) going on the big loo.
Much to our surprise she has started asking for 'poopoo' and recently taking herself to the potty and toilet. In fact yesterday we came into her room to find she had taken off her gro-bag, taken off her normal nappy and used the potty (including wipes!)
BRILLIANT - you might think!
But she is only able to do this when she isn't fully dressed as she can't yet take off trousers or lift skirts.
Any tips on how to maintain the steps she is taking herself, whilst she isn't ready to be fully potty independant!?

Hi alira, my dd started to lead potty training by taking her nappy off when she didn't have clothes on and trying The potty. We also introduced the potty around one year. She is also 22 months.
We have now been training for about a month and the last few days had no accidents even when going out and about.
We started with the potty and I'm now just introducing the toilet. I always help her with her trousers and knickers. She now tells me when she wants to go consistently. It was so much easier than I thought it would be. feel free to ask if you have any more questions

thanks cloudhands - it is nice to know that I'm not the only one out there with a very independant 22 month old!
I just wasn't sure whether to go for gold - or keep it ticking along until she is a little older and more independantly able to take herself to the loo

I would say go for it! I imagine little ones still need lots of help for a while yet. Even if they can't do all the steps, they can still use potty or toilet. You will save money on Nappies Smile and my dd enjoys wearing her big girl knickers and trying out public toilets wherever we go.

Make the most of the warm weather and have her just wearing knickers and a t shirt at home, and help her when she does need to go. Good luck!
