DD potty training herself - do i just let her get on with it?

In this weather we have left DDs nappy off as she has a heat rash on her back and its quite bad in her nappy area. We bought a potty a while ago and its just been on the floor in the bathroom, we have mentioned it and what its for but by no means put any pressure on her to use it.
She has been toddling off, doing a wee and bringing it to us! When she does have a nappy on she will take it off then use the potty. She always tells me when she is doing a wee or a poo, no poos on the potty yet but a few next to it! She is very bothered by a dirty or wet nappy.

She has only just turned two, i wasnt planning on doing this until probably next year to be honest, is she too young?
My DS is at a really difficult stage, he is nearly 6 months and is at that bit where he cant sit or crawl and is desperately frustrated because of this, he is grumpy all the time and im not sure i can cope with a difficult potty training time if we decide to take the plunge.

Can i just let her get on with what shes doing and put nappies on her when we go out still? Im very clueless and havent had chance to research potty training or anything, i always assumed it would be horrendous and difficult.

Thanks

2 is about the right age. DD and nearly all of her friends potty trained around 2.2, with experiments on the loo and / or potty beforehand.

Oh I missed the bit about going out - no, sadly once you start it has to be all or nothing.

she's potty trained herself! just get her some pants and carry on. Don't ut her in nappies during the day or she'll get confused about when it is/isn't OK to wee.

I kept pull ups for car journeys as DDs fell asleep

We are in the same situation apart from ds is a bit older - 2 and a half.

I am going to keep putting him in nappies when we go out - I don't want to potty train yet and it is the school holidays and I have 4 older kids and a lot of things planned which would be very difficult with a potty training toddler.

Normally I would say it is a good idea to go cold turkey with no nappies at all (apart from night time) but I have no intention of potty training properly at the moment but happy with letting things flow when we are at home.

When we went out I used to line the car seat with adult incontinence pads (the large flat ones that you use to protect the bed). Actually very rarely were they wet, but was peace if mind if I was on a motorway when "Mummy I need a weeeeeeee" was heard...

But agree, now she's started, take her to choose some big girl pants (at least 10 pairs...), grit your teeth and go for it!

Just carry on sounds like she is totally ready! My ds1 did this at 18mths.

When out i just took spare clothes and put a towel in the pushchair/carseat but you can buy dusposable absorbent mats now, |
Pampers do them but so do pet shops and they are tge same but cheaper! You can get a portable potty as well if you think you will need it.

Well done to dd!

She is the right age, my friends DD potty trained herself by watching her big sister, when she was 18m!

They don't necessarily get confused about pull ups when going out or for bedtime but you can try pant inserts or a folded towel (for car seats) to minimise puddles if you want instead. I have a porta potty but honestly DD never used it.

It sounds like she is really proud of herself and trying to be helpful to you as well, what a nice wee girl!

Thank you all, I suppose we just get on with it then! She has continued to go on the potty today, although we did have a small accident on the carpet - it's a good excuse to get the carpets cleaned I suppose.
We have a christening tomorrow so she will be wearing pull ups. Hope it isn't just a phase and she will refuse to go on potty tomorrow!
