Too soon to try ditching night nappies?

DS2 is 2.11, and we're on Day 5 of potty training. It's gone brilliantly well - loads of accidents the first three days, but yesterday and today there have been no accidents at all, and he seems to be controlling his bladder really well. I hadn't even considered trying to take him out of nappies at night yet, but ever since Day 1 of potty training his nappy has been bone dry in the morning (this had never happened before). So I'm wondering whether I ought to give it a go and ditch the night nappies. Has anyone else done this so early? Did it work??

We gave up night nappies after 3 dry overnight nappies with both dc

Worked well for us, only bedwetting ever was during uti

Worked for us too, both of my sons were reliably dry at night before daytime. One was 2.2, the other 2.8 I think. Make sure you have a good mattress protector just in case though!

Ok, that's really encouraging, thanks. I'll see what tomorrow brings and then maybe give it a go. I am actually slightly heady with excitement that I might be on the brink of throwing away my very last nappy so soon....

I've been wondering about this too, dd potty trained about 3 weeks ago and has had dry night time nappies for the last few days. Was wondering if it's a bit soon, she doesn't like accidents so would be upset by a wet bed... Did you try? How did you get on?

My DD1 was day-dry at 2.5yo. However, she needed pull-ups at night until she was 2.10yo.

As your DS is 2.11, it might be that he'll be absolutely fine without night nappies. As a precaution, try it out but maybe use a 'Dry Nights sheet' under the bottom sheet on his be so if he does have an accident it won't a) make a mess on his mattress and b) undermine his confidence :)

*bed, not be Blush

Haven't quite had the nerve yet! I'm slightly hesitant - part of me thinks I should seize the moment, the other part is aware that we're going in a holiday house bed and a (friend's) camping bed in the next few weeks, so maybe nappies are no bad thing for now!! I'll leave it a few more days and decide...

With DD1 I left her in night nappies for months and months and they were dry every single morning, so I learned my lesson and with DD2 as soon as they were dry, I took them off. She was nearly two and has had one accident since, when she had a fever. (she's six now) so I say take 'em off!

Ds was the same, dry at night at same time as dry in day. I had lots if pull up pants though from earlier unsuccessful attempts at potty training so used them at night then once they ran out used normal pants.

Dryness at night has nothing to do with training. Our bodies produce a hormone that reduces urine production - unless that is produced in sufficient quantities it cannot be done. As if to prove the point DS2 was dry at night 18 months before he'd use the toilet reliably!

If the nappies are dry in the morning and they can take themselves off to the loo before accidents then they're ready.

Reduces urine production whilst asleep that is.. Blush
