Dd 25 months has started to self potty train, she even pooed in the potty last night, I know we should go with it but a family bereavement last week and me presently working away means dh is struggling.

Dd is still in nappies but has been asking for the potty some of the time the last week however, dh is with her on his own until I get in after bedtime tonight, I'm then working again tomorrow and away with work again Monday night. Last night at some point she took her nappy off que wet bed this morning and after her breakfast she again took her nappy off and did a wee in her ball pool. I have suggested he puts her in pull ups instead of nappies but I'm worried he's not coping. As I'm not at home I can't really pester that he follows er round with the potty all day, I am going to suggest a day in the garden letting dd run round with no bottoms on.

Any ideas please, oh and we go away for a short break next weekend, I guess the potty comes too.

Sorry for your & dh's loss.

Potty training doesn't have to be all or nothing - my dd was a bit like yours and we started by just letting her have a bit of nappy free time at home when it was convenient, so she could 'practice'. She often asked for a nappy back on after an accident anyway. Agree that pull on nappies can be easier to put on and off - don't have to be the branded 'pull-ups', any pull on nappy will do. To start with we always put a nappy on to go out.

Dd got gradually more confident, and about a week later asked to go to toddler group with her knickers on - they stayed on all day and that was that. We obviously have the occasional accident still ( a few weeks on) and don't get me started on poo ( longstanding issues!) but the gradual approach worked for us. Perhaps your dh could just let her have a bit of time in knickers when it suits, like in the garden, but not feel under pressure to 'potty train' right now?

Hi!

here is what worked for me:
Starting before he/she is ready it's more likely that the process will just end up taking longer.Every children is different, there are hundreds of methodologies.

  1. Introduce the potty well beforetraining starts. THATS KEY! in order to motivate him!.
3.A few weeks, or even months, before you think you will start toilet training, make a potty chair available to your child so that he or she can get used to it. 4.Play with the potty, sit over it (with diapers and dresed), read him stories while he is using it like a chair! 5.Read Potty Training stories. There is a nice app called potty trainig learning with the animals. My little one adore it!

then after doing this , then start!
