Regression & big toilet issues

DD1 has been potty trained and completely dry since may last year. She's now just over 3 and we are having issues much worse than when we initially did the training.

She was very confident at going to the toilet and I think recently she started underestimating how long she can hold her wee in for and wetting her pants slightly, or doing little dribbles as she calls them. We have big issues now though with her using a big toilet. She used to go quite happily by herself but its become apparent that at some point when I wasn't there she must have slipped slightly down the toilet and she now refuses to go on toilets and will only use a potty. She wet herself 3 times at my mums house yesterday so it's not just public toilets and today at home she pooed herself as she couldn't find her potty. We had a thoroughly unpleasant trip out today due to her refusal to go on the toilet. I've tried coxing her and explaining I won't let her fall down the toilet and I've tried adding it to her reward chart but to no avail. I lost my temper with her after the poo incident which wasn't my finest hour and probably hasn't helped the issue. I really don't want to go back to carrying a potty round with me if I can help it.

Sorry for the rambling post but am getting desperate. Can anybody give me some advice on how to handle this?

Is it possible to use a tiny insert on the big toilet at home? It might help to rebuild confidence that there will be no slipping down the toilet.

I use a pottette, they're fab and easy to carry around to fit over a toilet seat securely. They also double up as a small potty - worked so well for us we could very soon ditch using it every time when out and about.

The potette fits inside his Thomas tank engine bag so easy to take around with me.

Thanks for the reply. I do actually have a potette and also use a tomme tippie toilet trainer at home. I stopped taking the potette out with me and I had hardly used to begin with. Perhaps I will have to start taking it out with me. Like you say it may help build her confidence again. I just hope she doesn't become so reliant on it that she refuses to go to the toilet without it. But I guess she isn't using the toilet now so it's better than her wetting herself constantly when we are out which she's doing now.

My DS had a little slip and was completely spooked by it, so I can understand that it might take a while to rebuild her confidence. He also won't use the toilet for a poo though, so we are still reliant on his potty for that. Guess it all takes time. Good luck with it!
