DD 2yrs 8months, we are about a month in and she mastered poos after a couple of weeks, she goes at the same time every day so it is easy to get her to sit on the toilet, she willingly goes when I suggest at that time and she often goes herself. She is capable of pulling up and down and wiping etc.
Wees are a different story. She will go first thing in the morning, she is dry all morning at daycare, dry for her nap and goes to the potty for them no problem and sometimes will just go herself. I collect her at 2 and from then on she refuses point blank to go to the toilet, and will have 2-3 accidents in the evening. She only sits on the toilet after an accident, then stays for ages waiting for wee to come. I'm at my wits end. I don't think she is deliberately weeing in her pants, yet she doesn't seem to care if she wees them. Her minders in daycare think she is doing great, I've mentioned to them about going back to nappies and they think I am mad!. When she gets home and just can't be bothered and it is a power struggle to get her to sit on the toilet. I don't know if I should abandon for now, or keep going ... any suggestions?

She is in the defiant stage (has been since turning 2!) and I should mention that after I put her to bed she always asks to go to the toilet (delay tactics) even though she has went before being put into bed,,, so I know she knows the process. Also when I tell her she is a big girl, she says 'no mommy I a baby' ...
Toilet training is sooooo hard !

Id leave a potty in front of the telly and just see what happens...I am about to start potty training one of my child minding kids of the same age who has great language skills but says he wants to "stay a baby" so we will see how it pans out...

Similar here Chianti - my dd1 is nearly 3 and we are four months in to attempt 3! Poos are fine but she has about 3 wee accidents a day...she says sorry and that she didnt know it was coming! Lots of other times in the day she asks to go and goes happily so she can do it fairly easily. I feel she is too far down the road to go back to nappies and yet am fed up with this situation! - Is this taking unusually long? Also i wonder if she cant be bothered as she rarely if ever has an accident somewhere where it would be a nightmare like a gym class or a friends house - always great but the minute we are home or she is at pre-school (which she loves) - she has accidents - is it because she is comfortable there? I have tried rewards, gentle sanctions and ignoring the accidents in case they are for attention! - Am I being a little harsh thinking she should have "got it" by now!? She is dry at night and has been for a few months now.
I think you are in a similar position Op - gotta keep going as too far along the road! - but anyone got through this and can offer more, please!! It is , I agree, so hard!
My daughter also said she wanted to be a baby - she has a little brother - and I tackled that by pointing out all the good things she can do that he/babies can't...eg - you can have an extra biscuit as you are a big girl, you can sit with mummy a while after your bath to read because you are a big girl! - she doesnt want to be a baby now but that may just be coincidence!
