No nappy at night - to lift or not to lift?

My 2 year old litte boy has recently potty trained (2 weeks). He's doing fantastically and his only accidents in the past week have been on his one day at nursery.
Last Fri and Sat mornings he woke with a dry nappy then announced that he didn't want a nappy on Sat night. He woke at 4.30am shouting for his potty on Sun am then went back to sleep and woke up dry. He woke again 4.30am mon am saying "no wee don't come out" and had wet his pjs but then weed on the potty, went back to sleep- with requested nappy- and woke dry.
He asked for a nappy last night and woke this morning with it slightly wet.
He's told me that he doen't want a nappy tonight and has gone to sleep with out one.
I'm totally confused by all the conflicting advice- should I pick him up and put him on the potty when we go to bed or leave hime?

Sounds really amazing for a 2 year old boy. From my research night time dryness is a physical milestone and neither you nor your DS has much control. Lifting them in the night will not make them dry at night only reduce the amount of wee if they wet the bed later. I waited until DS was dry at night for about a week before taking off the nappy completely and since then he has wet only a couple of times (usually when he has a cold). I never lifted him.

My DS was dry at night pretty soon after we started potty training, like loris said its a physical thing not something they can learn. I remember reading at the time that if you get dry nappies in the morning for 10 days then take it off.

Currently training DD who had been dry at night for 3 days, we make a deal about using potty last thing before bed and having a ' good morning wee', we are still using a nappy at night even though she protests she doesn't need one, distract distract distract when it goes on and we manage to get it.

Sorry dont know about lifting, think people mainly consider it for older children who have been potty trained during day for a while.

Lifting isn't recommended.

It can help achieve a dry bed, but doesn't actually help the child to 'learn' to be dry at night as generally you are encouraging them to wee whilst they're asleep.

He is very very young to be reliably dry at night but it's not unheard of. The best thing would be to double-void at bedtime (toilet, teeth, toilet for example) and then either leave a potty in his room that he can use if he wakes at night, or be prepared to get up with him if he calls for you and encourage him to use the loo/potty even if he's already wet.
