Hi all, my DS who will be 4 in August, just announced to us a couple of nights ago that he's 'ready to take off his nappy at night' & we followed his cue. It's generally something we've been discussing on & off as something that will happen soon enough, and he's greatly reduced his night time milk recently in preparation for this. As I said, we followed his cue but yesterday which was the 2nd night with no nappy he wet his bed at 4.00 am. Which I'm sure is normal!

Wondering if you wise MNetters have any tips for managing this transition to no nappies at night? What did you find helped and how long does it roughly take for the whole thing to settle? I want to add that my DS was potty trained relatively quickly at 2.5 and has had no accidents during the day for over a year now.

My dd 3 only had three accidents at night. She started to wake up if she needed the loo and then went back to bed. Took a few weeks to sort itself out Smile

It's so nice to find someone else in the same boat as me! My dd1 was night trained when she was about 3, and I lifted her each night anytime between 9 and 11.

However my dd2 is a completely different kettle of fish.... she is now 3y2m and has also declared recently that she doesn't want to wear her nappy at night. We took the leap last night and I lifted her at 9 - she nearly woke the neighbourhood yelling 'i don't need a wee' and promptly did one!

She came in to my room at 5.30 with wet PJs.

Tonight I have made her bed with the bed mat, and restricted her fluid intake and I will lift her again later.

What did you do tonight? Are you persevering or going back to nappies? In my experience there will always be a few accidents early on, but I'm good to give this a fair try for a week or so and see how we get on!
