Ok we're all new to this and I know it's still early, we actually haven't started potty training yet but it's in my mind if that makes sense?

Dd1 has just turned 2, I don't think she's quite ready to start yet, but we are doing a lot of nappy off time with a potty around so she's comfortable with it. She'll sit on it and she understands it's for pee pee and poo poo but hasn't managed anything on it yet.

What I have noticed though is that she's holding herself when she needs to go until she has a nappy on, I know she needs to go because she holds her crotch and crouches down, often getting uncomfortable till I put the nappy on. When she poos in her nappy she tells us, but I'm not 100% sure she's aware of when she wees.

A while back she got very upset when she poo'd and peed on the floor (I don't know where this came from we were very unstressed about it but she hates to be dirty).

Is this a potential problem and is there anything I can do in the meantime to help?

It isn't a problem at all and nothing to be worried about. Just keep going in the relaxed way you are. Eventually she will do pees and poos in it and you just increase the amount of nappy off time and be sure to praise her loads (or bribe with chocolate or stickers) when she does something. We are on day two of no nappies here with a 2.4 year old and it has been very unstressy.

Thank you for your reply :) I am a true believer in keeping relaxed with it!

Today we've had 4 hours of nappy off time as she's a bit sore, it's taken that long for her to do a wee and she became hysterical. I praised her for doing a wee with her nappy off (actually I was genuinely thrilled) and comforted her. The hysterical bit concerns me though, is this keely to go on its on with lots of positive reinforcement? I don't know where it came from, neither DH nor I have issues with dirt or mess.

Oh also MrsCurly, I meant to add, I hope it's still going well and remained unstressy,
