Do I persist with pants?

My 25 mth old DS started using the potty last week, without any encouragement from me. He's not had a nappy when weve been at home, and we've hardly had any accidents. But when we've been going out I've been putting a nappy on.
We're going out today, and I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet & take him out in pants? He's had them on this morning but keeps taking them off saying he doesn't want
to wear them, but I don't know if its wise to put a nappy on him again?
I was quite happy to wait until the summer to potty train & don't feel very prepared at all!

Yes, def put him in pants. Cold turkey is the quickest way! If he has an accident, it's not such a big deal, just change him. It'll help him learn.

I'm on day 7 on potty training DD2 (25 months too!). So far she's weed three times whilst we've been out and I've just changed her in the street. It's been fine.

Yep, go for it. I'm on day 6 of training DS (2.7) and took him out to playgroup on Monday in pants. Took him to the toilet religiously every half an hour and he came home with dry pants. He had two accidents in the afternoon when he was distracted by his sister. Tuesday we stayed at home and he told me every half an hour that he needed the loo and did a wee everytime (although he now only gets a treat if he makes a big wee rather than a few drops). Dry pants all day.

I took him out today and he went over an hour without asking for the toilet and when he did ask he was able to wait five minutes for me to pay for our shopping and walk to the toilet which surprised me a lot. I think when we are at home he wants the treat and wants to go more regularly which isn't good for training him to retain his wee. I have stopped reminding/asking him if he needs the toilet except for before the school run.

I love how easy it is to train boys, he is already doing standing up wees in the toilet and I know if he is desperate we can just find a tree or a bush.

Ok, thank you, I'll persevere with it tomorrow Smile good luck to you, it does sound like you've cracked it!
