Potty training and chicken pox

I've been thinking about starting with DD1 for the last few months but putting it off because DD2 was newborn and I wasn't ready as was spending all of my time feeding etc. But I think she's pretty much ready - just turned 2 and showing all of the signs.

She's just come out this morning in chicken pox, so we're going to be housebound for the next couple of weeks and it strikes me that it might be a really good time to go for it with the potty training. But is this crazy - is she going to be so ill and distracted with the pox that she won't be able to think about potty training at the same time? Any thoughts? I suppose I can just give it a go and stop if it feels as if she's too unwell to do it, but if anyone has any views or experience of doing this, would be v grateful.

Thanks!

It is quite good to give them nappy free time so the spots in the nappy area get some air and a chance to heal. Having said that I potty trained dd2 when dd1 had chickenpox. Dd2 was ill first, so I was expecting it, dd1 had mildest chicken pox on record and dd2 mastered it really quickly. It really depends how ill she becomes, some get it really badly, that wouldn't be fun. Maybe try having more nappy free time, and see how far you get.

Thanks for your reply! We're giving it a go...spots not too bad so far, so it seems like quite a good time to do it and nappy free time definitely helpful anyway...so far a few accidents but a good few successes too (probably helped by choc button bribing!)
