First day cold turkey! He already hates his new fire engine pants, DH is not helping and when I said we will take spare clothes and pants to Tesco he rolled his eyes and said we should just put a nappy on him! Please tell me it will be ok and I am doing the right thing.

Fyi, he is DH's pfb, my second!

Grrr at your DH! I have just had a huge argument with mine about cleaning up poo, so I know how you feel! It will be ok, you have to do it some time, it might as well be now. Can you let DS choose some pants at tescos?

Calamityboo · 14/04/2012 14:36

Glad its not just mine! He did just help choose some lovely football pants as he peed through all the ones we took out :( only day 1 though.

I started yesterday and it was a disaster. Today a little better but have also decided against going anywhere. Dh is also in the 'can't be bothered so just out a nappy on him court' but am ignoring him. Hell if I listened to him DS would probably still be in nappies aged 18! Stick to it, been reading other posts that suggest this is definitely a month long not a week long battle (and more). One thing I have learnt already- don't ask if they need a wee or poo as DS won't tell me and then wee on floor anyway, just stick him on every 30mins or so! Goodluck

Calamityboo · 14/04/2012 17:01

grrr! DH just announced that enough is enough for today and that half a day in pants is ok and we should put ds back in a nappy now! What part of cold turkey no more nappies is difficult to understand?? Angry

We are day 4 of cold turkey here, not going too badly but I am on tenterhooks the whole time. I have adopted a 'we must go before we go out, we must go before lunch, we must go before play' etc and it seems to be working ok.

DD does not generally ask though so does this still count? I am just finding this so stressful!

Calamityboo · 14/04/2012 19:00

Oh queen, that sounds like my idea of bliss!! If I am ever on here moaning about the odd accident, please remind me of there first few days!

When I potty trained my 2 DS I found a few days of bare bum and no pants helped them (not when we were out and about). I think if they have pants on in the early days sometimes they forget and think they are still in their nappy iyswim.
Although a low point was when DS1 did a poo in the garden then rolled his Thomas the Tank train though it and showed me all proud with himself.

QueenSconetta · 14/04/2012 19:22

You'll get there Calamity, we had our first poo in the toilet today, up until now it has been poo in pants - not cool. We'll all get there I guess. DD has really engaged with Poo Goes to Pooland someone on here suggested.

Heather that made me lol.

Calamityboo · 14/04/2012 19:40

He is being very fair about pooing, he did some in his pants and the rest in the potty! Still peeing a lot in his pants so I think we will try bare bum for a while tomorrow.

I am mental, I have let her go to bed in pants cos she was so insustant!

Calamityboo · 14/04/2012 20:44

Shock queen, you are brave!

QueenSconetta · 14/04/2012 21:24

I am daft - I just couldn't face the fight! I also figured it might be worth the risk to encourage her rather than force her to wear a pull up. We'll see tomorrow!

Calamityboo · 14/04/2012 21:48

Grin Ooh queen, I am also on this thread, and have felt the need to offer Wine to all of us pee soaked potty mums. DH has been a little improved this evening, but still while he was upstairs with DS for nearly an hour earlier didn't think to check it he was wet (obviously he was) Angry I think I have missed a step, are we supposed to pre potty train the DH's so they know what to do when we need to potty train the DC's

I have mainly ignored DP and not included him in the process - much easier!

No wet bed this mornings - thrilled! Will look at other thread, thank you.

Hope your DH gets with the programme soon, x.

Calamityboo · 15/04/2012 08:19

Omg! Dry bed that is amazing :) I have also decided to ignore DH now, it seems easier than having to potty train 2 of them!

I permitted her request for a whole packet of milky buttons this morning as a reward Blush

How are things for you this morning?

Calamityboo · 15/04/2012 08:41

DH has gone to work, so all is peaceful in the calamity house! 1 bare bum running around the room, no accidents yet, but also no success on the potty :( it is still early though, but he does keep sitting on it and trying. He is off to grandmas soon while I 'treat' myself to a spinning class so he will probably have mixed success there.

OP posts:
QueenSconetta · 15/04/2012 09:13

At least he keeps sitting on it - a step forward.

Also you will be excused.mopping up duty while he is at Grandma's.
